Your question implies a very urgent need. What is important is to not go after the quick buck so many offer with their opportunities found on line. Have you identified a passion? What is it you like to do? What do you know that others may be interested in? As you identify these questions, you will be able to identify products you can sell through ebay, Etsy if hand made, begin a blog on your expertise. Remember, when you build a better mousetrap people will knock down your door to buy it. I continue to see small businesses succeed in this economy who have found something others want, they learn how to buy and then sell it for a profit. If you sold 2 items a day for instance on ebay that sold for $35.00 you would earn $20 a day after expenses, allowance for cost of the item. It is possible to break it down further if you have a smaller cost item. You would need to sell 8 five dollar items based on cost of selling and product. Is there something locally you can buy and sell on line that currently isn't being sold? Some item a craftsperson is selling that is hot in your area. To be successful you must do the work.
Examples of those who have successfully implemented a business online through ebay are the following.
I sell on both Amazon and Ebay to earn extra income to allow me to buy items for collections. My current sales are limited only by the amount of time I make to enter the items. For instance my Ebay listings for October were 15 items, selling 7 for sales of $144.00. Average sale is $20 per item. Sales costs which are listing and closing fees were $21.00. My purchasing costs for the seven items were approximately $50 leaving a profit of $73.00 for the month. Listing time was about 1 hour, daily review neglible, closing time to wrap and ship an estimated additional hour. Total time it took me to earn $73.00 is about 2 hours. I have lots of items and with more time sales would have been higher. You can search for what I am offering now at thecollecktor on ebay. I have a few more items listed now as I look to increase my earnings. Over time I have listed about 700 books on Amazon. These books average an additional monthly average earnings of about 75.00 but has been as high as $250. I buy items at flea markets, garage sales and whereever I go to sell on these two online sites. The items I buy are in my mind a good value, worth more than what I am paying. Not always am I correct and I have bought many items I haven't been able to sell. Overall I have been successful. It is possible to achieve additional earnings for anyone on these sites.
Another great example is an artist whose work I love who has found a following with his ACEO's. His work sells well because he understands his talents and continues to provide his customers the quality and work they love to collect. He lets the market determine the prices. Please check his work out at artmedia2k7
Another person who has discovered a market niche is Marc who has developed a blog around his passion and buys, sells and trades Obama political buttons.
The options to make $20 a day online is easier than ever. The hardest part is identifying what your passion is which can then be used to create an online business. Good luck

I enjoyed reading this hub.
I, too, never did real well on EBay, but maybe if I stuck with it, it would prove well for me. I do enjoy Ebay, though. No doubt about that.
One of my problems is I'm a packrat. It's so hard to let go of stuff for me. Then I think I will try EBay and it's here and there for me, then I think, oh, well, another time to try cause I just don't want to let go. I'm shameful, I know, but there you have it.
Interesting, I will check this out later. I have never had luck at Ebay the few times I have tried. Maybe I need the right product, will check yours out as soon as I can, thanks.

There is no shame in being a packrat. I too am more of a packrat than one who sells everything I collect. My thought was the better items would only go up in value. There is a flaw I found in this belief. The items I have built collections around are no longer as they once were. Values have dropped. Had I sold them at their hayday, my earnings would have been considerable. I find I sell more of the items I collect now with less of the items I have in storage even being listed. At some point I have to learn to let go. We will see if I can do it. thanks for your wonderful comment
